Golya z Opolya is a blogger and author born in the village of Opol in Polesse. She now resides in New Zealand. Golya is known for her vivid descriptions of life in the Polesse region, which she conveys through dialogues in the local language.

Book Description

Grandmother Manya lives in a village in Polesse, known as the ""Funeral director"" for her knowledge of burial rituals. Villagers distill moonshine, dig potatoes, and discuss daily life in their local language. Manya's granddaughter, Golya, depicted this life in dialogues in the Opol language. Golya, a blogger and author, now resides in New Zealand but was born and raised in Opol.
The book features illustrations by contemporary Belarusian artist Masha Maroz, founder and curator of the Past Perfect platform, dedicated to preserving Belarusian ethnographic heritage.
The book includes a narrative in a unique Poless'e micro-language and its English translation, with visual artworks and photographs by Masha Maroz taken during her expeditions in Poless’e.
